Apple, a wonderful combination of lifestyle and Tech Company came out with a unique product called Apple Watch. Apple watch, the most anticipated product for the year 2015 is the most personal computer on the wrist of your hand, a real crossover that wades into waters of technology and horology. What I like about the Apple Watch

Many excellent features and apps, one feature though stands is the Fitness Tracker.

  • Fitness is not just running, jumping, swimming or hitting the gym, it is also about being active by just simple movement like standing which the Apple watch prompts you to do so; an excellent feature.
  • Apple makes great products; the watch quality is good with scratch resistant and waterproof. It is a durable device.

What I learnt

  • Apple exercise app is a green icon easily located and is simple to set up. One chooses from the list of exercises and selects the goal. The heart rate monitor works great and gives out accurate reading while jogging.
  • In weight lifting the heart rate monitor only gives out accurate reading while taking rest in between the lifts. This feature can be overcome by using a Bluetooth chest strap. This helps to give the user accurate reading.

There are two different apps that work together in a fitness tracker. They collect data from your workout.

  1. The Health App imparts a large perspective of the overall health. The different metrics feature gives users personalized customization experience, which can be initially set up. Also the health app on the Iphone shows what sources (for example Bluetooth chest strap) are used to collect data.
  2. Activity App – It is customized for exercise and features a calendar view of your workout. It breaks down the data into 3 different categories
  • Move: Red in color, determines your resting/ activity calories
  • Exercise: Green in color, exhibit details of many minutes you worked out
  • Stand: Blue in color gives the count of how many times you stood up

There are few things that are missing to make it excellent fitness tracker

  1. No on-board integrated GPS, it only works with a Iphone
  2. No software on sleep tracker
  3. Workout mode battery life is 6.5 hr. Heart rate sensor is on during workout session.
  4. Expensive device

Though some missing features, it is best of both worlds. A good fitness tracker for an average fitness person but adding other Bluetooth sources makes for more optimum serious workout. With an integrated accelerometer and software, it is convenient fitness tracker and the great additional features just add to its beauty. A magnificent watch that changes your life through every click.
